A graduate of the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, the Institute of Art History at the Faculty of History at the University of Warsaw and the Study of Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. Scholarship holder under the Erasmus program at the University of Turin in Centro Conservazione e Restauro La Venaria Reale.
My research interests focus primarily on issues related to the conservation of interdisciplinary modern and contemporary art. I have devoted numerous publications and speeches at national and international conferences to this issue. In this area, I collaborate with major state institutions such as the Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, as well as with private collectors. I participate in national and international research projects, incl. CAPuS – Conservation of Art in Public Spaces implemented under the Knowledge Alliances of the Erasmus + program. In addition, I deal with the broadly understood protection of cultural heritage. As a young scientist, I represented Central and Eastern Europe during the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum in Bahrain organized by the UNESCO World Heritage Center.
I was honored with the award of the Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. I have received an artistic scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage twice.

Ph.D. Student and teaching assistant of ….
I have begun my studies in October 2009, firstly on the specialty of Conservation and restoration of painting and polychromed sculpture. Then after three very satisfactory semesters I joined a second one – Conservation and restoration of historical textiles. From this moment on I am having twice as much work but I prefer to see it as double mind-opening experience.
Currently I am on my master year and my diploma is also double. I am working on two contemporary sculptures and a baroque church banner, all sharing a common trait – they’re made with mixed textile and painting techniques. Above all, I learn how to perceive conservation as a whole.
In the future I see myself as the conservator of atypical, eclectic objects that cannot be simply categorised. In the afterhours I make copies of paintings and enjoy a good reading on human and neural sciences, physics and other powers that shape us as species and beings.

I received my MA degree in Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2010. Following the studies, I did one year post-graduate internship at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, CA, a year of internship and a year of Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for Advanced Studies in Paintings Conservation at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. Even though my primary specialization is in paintings conservation, I have always had a great interest in issues of conservation, safeguarding and management of archaeological heritage in the Mediterranean. I have been participating in a number of conservation and research projects in countries such as Italy, Cyprus, Israel, Jordan and Lebanon. My doctoral research focused on the iconography, technical analysis and issues of conservation of early Byzantine wall paintings in the Middle East. In my scarce free time I enjoy planning my next travels, reading books and playing pool.

Language Editor – Adam M Klupś, MA
Assistant Church Buildings Officer, Diocese of Gloucester, England
I hold a BA in History of Art and Material Studies from University College London and an MA in Principles of Conservation from the Institute of Archaeology, UCL. I currently work for the Diocese of Gloucester, supporting the work of the Diocesan Advisory Committee, which advises on matters relating to church buildings and churchyards, promotes the long-term sustainable future of the historic churches and assists individual congregations in caring for them and adapting them for today’s needs.
I am also a trustee of the Józef Piłsudski Institute of Research based in London, disseminating knowledge and fostering public understanding of Poland’s early 20 th century history and its legacy.
My broad professional interests encompass contemporary conservation theory and ethics, and conservation considerations involved in the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. My Master’s project (2013) focused on conservation considerations in the conversion of closed Victorian-era churches to alternative uses
For a few years now, I have been working towards greater collaboration and exchange of experiences between conservation professionals and conservation students and emerging conservators. In September 2011, under the auspices of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (IIC), I instigated the first Student and Emerging Conservator Conference (S&ECC), which was held in London. I am a keen traveller and yoga practitioner.
Graphic Design Editor (I) – Anna Naumova, MA
Graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw
Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine. I studied simultaneously journalism and psychology at the University of Warsaw. Currently I am a student at the Poster Design and Lithography studio at the Academy. My interests include broadly-taken documentary, sociological concepts as well as psychology of social impact.

In I 2008 received a bachelor’s degree in Political Studies at the University of Birmingham. In 2015 I was awarded the scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland. Main field of my work is graphic design, illustration and drawing. My artistic works have been shown in a number of exhibitions, both home and abroad.

Mateusz Jasiński, Ph.D.

Teaching assistant in the Department of Technique and Technology of Painting at the Academy
Above all, I am interested in issues of painting technique and technology. I am particularly passionate about the paintings of the old masters of seventeenth–century from Italy and Holland. Issues of painting technology are of great importance to me – after we become acquainted with the history of a given painting, we begin to look it differently and notice previously unseen details. My doctoral research was focused on the technique and technology of followers of Caravaggio. The main purpose of the project was promoting and increasing the knowledge about Baroque painting by reconstruction of Caravaggisti painting workshop. As a conservator I work with easel paintings and participate in projects related to the conservation of wall paintings. I also try to undertake my own painting and drawing projects, unrelated to my conservation profession, and take part in exhibitions and plain – air workshops.
Maciej Baran, MA

Teaching and research assistant at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Mural Paintings (Studio of Conservation and Restoration of Mural Paintings, and Studio of Conservation and Transfer of
Mural Paintings)
I received an MA degree in History of Art from The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, as well as MA in Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. My interest and specialisation are broad issues of conservation and restoration of wall paintings in particular from the Baroque era. I have participated in and conducted a number of conservation and research works in area of wall paintings and interior restoration.
Currently I am finishing my PhD: ‘Conservation and restoration of the Dutch Cabinet in Wilanów Palace. The search for ideological content and artistic solutions in ceiling painting’. In the meantime I work also as the Supervising Inspector of Conservation in Museum of Warsaw. My passions are family travels to Italy and occasional open-air painting.
Anna Nowicka, Ph.D.

Teaching and research staff member in the Department of Expert Research and Documentation Techniques
I graduated from the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and I also studied at the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology. I have been working as a teaching and research staff member at the above mentioned Faculty for fifteen years and one of my duties is leading the technology research on works of art. From 2011 to 2015 I was the leader of the science project titled ‘Investigation of the use of the Bookkeeper method for deacidification of oil paintings on paper supports’ (2011/01/N/HS2/02308) which was financed by the National Centre for Science in Cracow. In 2006 I participated in the project which aimed to determine the attribution of two Rembrandt’s paintings from the Museum of the Royal Castle in Warsaw. I have also examined the paintings and sculptures from the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów, National Museum in Warsaw and the Department of Archeology of the University of Warsaw. Over the last years I took part in a complex restoration of the Royal Collection of Paintings at The Royal Łazienki Museum.
Agnieszka Krzemińska-Maciejko, MA

Teaching and research assistant at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Historical Textiles
I received an MA degree in Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2001. From 2010 to 2011 I did post-graduate studies at the Lodz University of Technology. The studies related to analysis and documentation of antique textiles. As a teaching assistant at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Historical Textiles I conduct courses for the students of the 2nd and the 3rd year concerning conservation of carpet and tapestry. I give lectures and exercises on weave techniques and conservation of metal elements in historical textiles. I am particularly interested in analysis of structures of antique textiles.
Since 2014 I have been a member of the team working on science project titled “Interdisciplinary research of 192 medieval liturgical paraments of St. Mary’s Church in Gdansk, currently stored in the National Museum in Gdansk with particular emphasis on technological and technical analysis” which has been financed by the National Centre for Science in Cracow. In the project I deal with analysis of techniques of velvets. In the nearest future I am going to start my doctoral dissertation focused on technological and conservation problems regarding 17th century embroidered banner.
Katarzyna Górecka, Ph.D.

Teaching Assistant at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Easel Paintings
I graduated in conservation from the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (2006) and also hold a degree in history from the Warsaw University (2004). Recently I mainly deal with conservation problems of large-sized and atypically formed canvas paintings. A phenomenon of the curvilinear canvas paintings adapted to the form of architecture was the subject of my Ph.D. thesis (work in progress). In 2012 – 2015 I was a leader of the scientific grant: “Innovative measurement of deformations in large-size paintings on canvas by remote optical methods and its application in documenting, designing and evaluation of technical conservation solutions” financed by the Polish National Science Centre. I cooperate with specialists from the Polish Academy of Sciences. From 2007 I regularly lead student training in conservation of the XVIth century fresco painting in the Suceviṭa Monastery in Bucovina, Romania (monument on the UNESCO list). In my spare time I climb in the mountains.
Monika Supruniuk, Ph.D.

Teaching assistant and Research Assistant in Department of specialty of Conservation and restoration of
historic books, prints and leather.
Monika Supruniuk has studied Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art and obtained the Master’s of Art degree in 2011 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland. She has been specializing in conservation of books, old prints and anthique leather, nevertheless her diploma thesis was dedicated to conservation of photography and audiovisuals. The titles of the thesis: Issues of conservation and restoration of two photographic works by Zbigniew Dlubak: Onona and Desymbolisations. Supervisor: Marzenna Ciechańska, Ph.D. Conservation and restoration of photographic films on cellulose nitrate base. Supervisor: Weronika Liszewska, Ph.D. Supruniuk has been working for the National Film Archive since 2009. She is responsible for conservation of the nitrate film collection. From 2009 to 2012 she worked as a research team member on the project ‘Conservation and digitalisation of pre-war feature films at the National Film Archive in Warsaw’. She also operates on a regular basis as a consultant for other institutions such as archives and museums (National Digital Archives, Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Zachęta – National Gallery of Art, Archeaology of Photography Foundation). She teaches several workshops on the preservation of audiovisual and photographic collection and has published several articles on these topics. Since 2012 she has been working as a teachning assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
She has also attended several international conferences and workshops on audiovisual preservation.
– In 2009, she underwent an intership (December-July) at the Landesarchiv NRW Technisches Zentrum, Münster, Germany / Internship Scholarship of the North Rhine-Westphalia and the Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau
– In 2010, Supruniuk participated in the ‘Film Restoration Summer School / FIAF Summer School’ (May-July) at the Cineteca del Comune di Bologna, L’Immagine Ritrovata, Bologna, Italy / Scholarship of the MEDIA EU’s programme
– In 2013, she participated in two workshops: ‘Conservation Strategies for Humidity and Water Damaged Photographic Materialsin’ in Zagreb, Croatia, and the ‘SOIMA 2013 Safeguarding Sound and Image Collections’ in Nairobi, Kenya.
Furthermore she is also an active member of the Group of Historic Photography Enthusiasts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 2013, Supruniuk awarded the Młoda Polska Scholarship 2013 (the Minister of Culture and the National Legacy scholarship) and a grant from the National Science Centre for the project Permanence and change. The conservation of analog media art.

Maciej Gawiński Bryła, MA
Faculty of Fine Arts – Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art – University of the Basque Country
Student of Conservation and Restoriation of Works of Art in the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao. I am very interested in conservation and restoration issues of modern/contemporary art, specially in monochrome objects. Now I am working on new techniques of chromatic reintegration of monochrome works of art. As a student I had an internship in the Fine Arts Museum in Bilbao and the Archeological Museum in Bizkaia. In 2017 I will have an internship in the National Museum of Warsaw. Apart of that, I love history of art and that is why in 2016 I began History of Art Studies at the UNED (Spanish distance university).
